Abstract:Large cicadas of the genus Cosmopsaltria Stål serve as a source of protein for the Ekagi people in the Mapia area of Irian Jaya (Indonesia). Five large species of the genus have different Ekagi names. Two other Ekagi names are used for smaller cicadas that are not eaten.
