Abstract:Summary In Catalonia the Citril Finch was found breeding from March to June in submediterranean and even mediterranean areas between 500 m and 1600 m a. s. l. This habitat contrasts with the subalpine breeding areas where breeding does not start until May/June. Breeding in submediterranean habitats coincides with high fructification of pines. Successive breeding in different areas allow the bird to extend the breeding season. The breeding in marginal areas seems to be more or less opportunistic and does not mean a range expansion.
