Abstract:Over a 4-year period nest failures in the Scarlet Rosefinch Carpodacus erythrinus averaged 36.9%. Distance of a nest from a habitat edge was the only factor influencing probability of failure. Predation of incubating females is considered the most likely explanation of the failures.
