Abstract:Eurasian Tree Sparrow (Passer montanus) populations, established by introductions outside of the native range, provide a unique opportunity to assess the relationship of morphometric and genetic change in a new environment. No statistically significant morphometric-genetic relationships were found among six populations of P. montanus when we (1) correlated morphometric size with heterozygosity; and (2) estimated degree of population differentiation using morphometric and genetic distance measures. Factors influencing both genetic and morphometric differentiation include the founding events and the ecological changes associated with them.
