329. Podicipes albescens.

 

Male 7 1/2". Legs greenish. Bill black. Forehead and fore part of crown black. Hind part of crown, nape, and foreneck chestnut (the collar is unlike that of any known species). Above white, with dark shaft stripes. Secondaries white, with dark shaft stripes. A single specimen obtained by the late Mr. Mandelli in Sikkim. Considered by many to be a partial albino of P. albipennis. (B, iv, 476.)
