Abstract:An estimated 2% to 3% of the larvae of Gyrinophilus porphyriticus in a cave in Greenbrier Co., West Virginia, are albinos. The complete absence of integumentary and optic pigments is generally rare in salamanders, and not previously reported in Gyrinophilus.
