In general habits it has much in common with Vanellus vulgaris, and like that bird is wary, restless, and noisy, and whenever an intruder is noticed t dies overhead uttering its warning cry, zac, zac, zac. It breeds in Egypt in March and April, its nest being a mere depression in the sand, and deposits 3 or 4 eggs, which are greyish olive or warm dark ochreous, closely spotted and blotched with olive-brown and blackish, the markings being usually more numerous at the larger end ; in size they measure about 1.64 by 1.23.
