Male ad. In general colouration intermediate between T. urogallus and T. parvirostris and approaches nearer the former in colouration, but has the head and neck but slightly vermiculated, the upper parts less rufous brown, the scapulars and tail coverts broadly marked with white, forming continuous bands ; bill small as in T. parvirostris ; bill from end of feathering to tip 0.8, wing 14.7, tail 11.0, tarsus 3.3 ; outer tail feathers 3.2 inch shorter than the middle ones.
Hab. The peninsula of Kamchatka. In habits it does not differ from T. parvirostris, but I do not find any record of its nidification.
