Streptopelia senegalensis.

Columba senegalensis Linn., Syst. Nat., 12th ed., i, p. 283 (1706).

Type-locality: Senegal.

The African form differs from both the races found in India in being much more reddish on the back with the rump bluish lead-colour, different to the back.

Key to Subspecies.

A.Darker and smaller: wing 125 to 132 mm.; 121 to 129 mm......S. s. cambaiensis, p. 246.
B.Paler and larger: wing 135 to 145 nun.; 130 to 140 mm..............S. s. ermanni, p. 247.
