Genus RHODOPECHYS

Rhodopechys Cabanis, Mus. Hein., Th. i, p. 157, note (1850).

Type, Rhodopechys sanguinea Gould.

The genus Rhodopechys contains a single species of Finch, coloured somewhat like the Desert Rose-Finches, hut much darker. The bill is stout and moderate in size, the lower mandible stout and heavy in proportion to the upper; wing long; tail short and very slightly forked.
