Prunella collaris ripponi Hartert,Vog. Pal., i, p. 766 (1913) (Gyi-dzu-Shan).

Vernacular names. None recorded.

Description. A very dark bird both above and below, the tail tipped with rufescent and the chestnut flanks with narrow rufescent edges to the feathers, not always present.

Colours of soft parts. " Iris brown; bill black with pale base ; legs fleshy " (Rippon).

Measurements. Wing 88 to 98 mm.; culmen 12 to 12.5 mm.

Distribution. N. Shan States, Yunnan, Szechuan and N.W. China, S.E. Tibet.

Nidification and Habits. Nothing recorded.
