Genus PHOENICONAIAS.

Phoeniconaias Gray, Ibis, 1869, p. 440.

Type by mon., Phoenicopterus minor Geoffroy. In this genus the upper mandible does not overlap the lower and the neck is well feathered. It contains but one species.
