Family MEGAPODIIDAE

Family MEGAPODIIDAE.

In addition to the characters of the Order the Megapodiidae are distinguished by their nude oil-gland from the Cracidae of South and Central America. The Megapodes are remarkable for the fact that the young are born fully feathered and able to fly and fend for themselves as soon as hatched.
