GENUS, Lanius, Lin. (in part)

Bill short, strongly hooked and toothed, much compressed rictal bristles numerous, rather weak; wings moderate ; third and fourth quills about equal and longest; tail somewhat long, graduated; tarsus short; feet short, but strong.
