Genus FREGETTA

Genus FREGETTA.

Fregetta Bonaparte, Comp. Rend., xli, p. 1113 (1855). Type by orig. desig., Thalassidroma leucogastra Gould. This genus is very close to Oceanites, from which it differs in having the first phalanx of the middle toe greatly flattened and longer than the other phalanges and claw combined; the claws are flattened and broad, spade-shaped and pointed at the end.
