Emberiza schaeniclus.

Fringilla schaeniclus Linn,? Syst. Nat., 10th ed.; p. 182 (1758). Type-locality: Sweden.

The form found in India is very much paler than the European bird, which has the margins to the feathers of the upper parts rufous rather than pale fulvous.
