Genus EUPODA.

Eupoda Brandt, Voy. Sci. Altai Orient., p. 444 (1845V Eupodella Mathews, Birds of Australia, iii, pt. 1, p. 83 (1913).

Type by orig. desig., Charadrius asiaticus Pall.*

This genus differs from Leucopolius in having a smaller, more slender bill and in having no white ring round the neck, though there are traces of a pale hind-neck sometimes in E. vereda. Proportionately to its size it has much longer legs than either Leuocpolius or Charadrius. Erom Cirrepedesmus it differs markedly in its slender bill and much less swollen dertrum.

A. Smaller j wing under 152 mm.; axillaries white………….E. asiatica, p. 158.
B. Larger; wing over 152 mm.; axillaries light brown………….E. vereda, p. 159.
