Calandrella Kaup, Naturl. Syst, p. 39 (1829). Type, Calandrella brachydactyla Leisler.
The genus Calandrella contains the Short-toed Larks, of which wrt have two species in India.
In this genus the bill is rather short and deep and the nostrils 4ire concealed by plumes; the wing has nine primaries of which the first is long, reaching to the .tip of the wing and about the same length as the next two or three; the inner secondaries are long and reach almost to the tips of the primaries ; the hind claw is a little longer than the hind toe and almost straight.
