Alectoris graeca.

Perdix graeca Meisner, Syst. Verz. Vog., p. 41 (1804).

Type-locality: Greece.

Our Indian races of this species differ from the European typical graeca in having white lores and chestnut ear-coverts.

Key to Subspecies.

A.Darker.
A.Crown conspicuously red-brown; pink of upper back very bright…………..A. g. koriakovi, p. 404.
B.Crown not so conspicuously red-brown and pink of upper back duller…………..A. g. chukar, p. 402.
B.Paler everywhere, above and below………….. A. g. pallescens, p. 404.
