Genus AEGITHINA

GENUS, (Aegithina) Iora, Horsfield.

Bill moderate, or rather long, somewhat compressed, very slightly curving; culmen rounded, slightly hooked at tip, and notched; rictal bristles almost wanting; nostrils apert; wings rather short, with fourth, fifth and sixth quills sub-equal and longest ; secondaries long, nearly equal to the primaries ; tail even, short; tarsus rather short with scales divided; toes short; middle-toe very little longer than the outer, which is slightly syndactyle ; claws slightly curved; hind-toe shorter than the middle one.
