SUB-FAMILY, Carpophaginae.

Bill lengthened and slender, tolerably depressed at the base, with the terminal third or less of the upper mandible corneous ; wings long ; tail even, or slightly rounded, longer than in the Treroninae; feet strong, with broad soles; tarsus well feathered.
