Subfamily CHARADRIINAE.

Br. Lowe thus diagnoses this subfamily : - " Pluvialine forms in which the lacrymals are not free but are merged on the supraorbital rim, in which there is a conspicuous foramina for the nasal duct immediately caudad of the nasals, in which the supraorbital grooves are deeply sculptured, often perforated with foramina, and extend well back to the anterior margins of the parietals, and in which the supraorbital rim is conspicuously raised, everted, or conicid."
