The Avian Information System (AVIS) is an extensive database information system about all birds of the Indian subcontinent in the series of web-based portals under IBIS to contribute plethora of information available on birds to science and conservation. AVIS-IBIS portal containing 1,664 species of birds, Bibliography, multiple taxonomy, distribution information & maps, collection of sound/calls, photographs, book excerpts of old ornithological literatures, Biodiversity heritage library and more. AVIS-IBIS portal also have special feature of multi-accesses identification keys of birds. It is a visual interface made up of various icons for the field marks which helps to identify any birds on the field. AVIS-IBIS aims at encourage amateur wildlife enthusiasts to serious researchers on the natural history and ecology, gather population and distributional data in a centralized database, and spread awareness about conservation of the avian species.
